EMIYA's physical appearance does not reflect the mirror image of his past self like some might assume. Through the future the Shirou of this timeline will not experience, he has grown fifteen whole centimeters in height to a total of one-hundred and eighty-seven centimeters. This puts him a good head above his old self, though Archer's height is only one of many differences between the current him and his past self. He weighs more than Shirou, but all of the extra weight is muscle. He is of lean build, having put on a good amount of muscle to go along with his stature. His musculature is impressively toned and sculpted, but overall brings his weight up to only seventy-eight kilograms. His skin is darker, and his hair is a different color altogether. Outright, it is no wonder people cannot identify his as Shirou Emiya in regards to physical appearance. He looks much more the experienced, hardened Ally of Justice that Shirou wanted to be than his old, bland self ever could.
His fashion sense has evolved over time as well. Archer has outgrown the baseball shirt and denim pants of his unimaginative former self, and no longer wears school uniforms or work cloths. Well, he does
wear work cloths, but his line of work is different from most. He almost always wears some variation of his favorite outfit, although he does possess an expansive wardrobe ranging across different tastes and tasks. Rin even makes him wear an apron for cooking and cleaning - a pink one, at that. Even so, his actual
and usual outfit is something much more suited to this Nameless Hero. Distinctive red and black armor, formed by combining a black breastplate of steel and modern combat pants with a Holy Shroud, cut into the shape of a cloak. However, when not in combat, he is content with just the pants and breastplate without the shroud, or for casual occasions strides around in a simple, black button-up shirt with matching trousers. For footwear, he wears boots of black leather and steel plate for kicking and blocking, as well as protection for his feet.
EMIYA's appearance can best be summarized as bold and striking. His dark skin and the stark, snow-white tone of his hair are both owed to overuse of his unique brand of Thaumaturgy. Projection magic, over the course of his path, has made these physical changes irreversible and rendered him practically indistinguishable from Shirou. He keeps his short, white hair spiked up in order to keep it out of the way. He has never put much stock into his appearance, and he doesn't even now. As long as his hair is out of the way in a fight, he is satisfied. The lack of color in his hair accompanied by his steel-gray eyes not only assist in masking his identity, but more importantly reflect the Mind of Steel he required to embark on his journey to save everyone. The ideals that led him, and the ones that betrayed him - a wealth of limitless experience and knowledge dwell behind those eyes. The heart and mind of the fallen hero still stands as firmly as steel in his gaze, polished by the shine of hope and acceptance of where his ideals led him.

Self-PreservationRank: B RankEffect: Independent Action
is the Archer class Servant's ability to remain independent even when rejecting a prana supply from their Master - or when cut off from the same. At higher levels of this skill, it is also possible to remain for extended periods of time in this world without an established contract or source of prana. This skill can be considered both useful and troublesome depending on the disposition of the Servant and the rank of Independent Action
. With their Servant capable of acting autonomously from their own prana supply, the Master can concentrate their own prana on large spells. Alternatively, the Servant will be fine even in a case where the Master can not supply prana due to injury. The downside is that Servants with this skill can be harder to control. It is more difficult to keep Servants with this ability by a Master's side, The only true way to command an Archer class Servant is by utilizing Command Spells. At B Rank
, Emiya is capable of remaining in this world for two days (in corporeal form) without an established contract, and up to twelve hours longer is in spirit form (six if not, for a total of 54 hours of survival in corporeal form). Also, Emiya is capable of living on for a short period of time even after suffering extensive damage to his spiritual core.Skill:
Diplomatic ImmunityRank: D RankEffect: Magic Resistance
is the skill of any "Knight class" Servant to outright cancel spells upon contact with magic. This skill gives said Servants additional protection against spellcasting. Magic Resistance
doesn't merely reject prana, but nullifies spells of certain levels instantly. At D Rank
, EMIYA inherently cancels Single-Action spells. This Magic Resistance
is of the same degree of an amulet that rejects magical energy.
SharpshooterRank: C+ RankEffect: Clairvoyance
- in the context of a Servant's Personal Skill - is a Servant's gift of superior visual perception and dynamic occipital capture. The purpose of this skill is to supplement the long-range aiming of projectile weapons. At higher ranks, it is possible for the bearers of this skill to have acquired such abilities as precognition ("future vision") and other forms of perception beyond standard eyesight (X-ray vision and so forth). At EMIYA's level, this skill allows him keep track of fast-moving targets within a range of Four Kilometers (this distance can be increased through magecraft initiated by Rin, hence the modifier).Skill:

Stylin' on YouRank: B RankEffect:
This skill is EMIYA's heightened capacity for situational, constant "observation". In the case of Eye of the Mind (True)
, this insight is gained through personal experience. EMIYA is capable of calm analysis of battle conditions even when he is (or others are) in danger, and is able to deduce an appropriate course of action after considering all possibilities to escape from a predicament. So long there is even a 1% chance of a comeback, this ability greatly improves the chances of winning.Skill:
MAGICRank: C- RankEffect: Magecraft
, as the name suggests, is a Servant's knowledge and capabilities regarding magic. Specifically, it is one's knowledge regarding modern Thaumaturgy. EMIYA is capable of using powerful but generalized, orthodox Thaumaturgy.

The Inner World of the Betrayed Hero known as Shirou Emiya. It can manifest as a Reality Marble, and the world within is very different from Shirou's own. The view is still opaqued (though not as much as it once was) by a haze formed from the smoldering embers and wisps of black smog produced by iron forging rising from the ground. However, above the clouds - if one looks clearly towards the sun - the faintest glimpse of a rainbow can be seen as the sun begins to filter through the thick, acrid smog.Effect:
This Reality Marble's purpose is to serve as a steel manufacturing factory that produces the countless famous swords throughout history. In this world, an endless sea of swords and blades and other weapons without owners extend into the ever-distant horizon. It contains all of the raw materials and sorcery needed for the formation of the weapons, and Unlimited Blade Works
passively records and analyzes all weapons and defensive armaments encountered by EMIYA. The number of unique weapons encountered and recorded by Archer exceeds numerous thousands, most of which are Noble Phantasms. Their entire histories, compositions, and designs are all perfectly recorded, allowing for instant proficiency with the weapons by inheriting all combat skills and techniques utilized by their original owners. This allows for the reproduction of Noble Phantasms, which would generally be impossible for a faker. They can also be modified to the user's taste with reinforcement, as EMIYA has shown on occasion.
Close combat weapons such as swords, spears, and halberds are the main focus of the Reality Marble, which coincidentally makes it impossible to record or reproduce modern weaponry like guns and other modern weapons. Shields and defensive armaments can be reproduced with greater effort and about twice the prana. Weapons encountered by EMIYA are immediately analyzed with a single glance, enabling them to be projected immediately afterward, and once projected, they are stored within the Reality Marble for later use. A mental blueprint-style imprint of each weapon is burned into his mind, and available for later use.
The quality of projected weapons will always be degraded by one rank due to humans being unable to fully conceptualize the existence of an object through only one sense, and they will never equal the originals without a technique such as detonating them as Broken Phantasms. With the blessings of the original owner, any Noble Phantasm or item can be traced to yield an "EX Rank" copy perfectly identical to the original. Though, some level of magecraft and ritual would need to be established before hand, making this procedure mutual and unable to be forced without the consent of a weapon's owner. Ordinarily, Holy Swords like Excalibur (this does not include Excalibur Galatine, Arondight, etc.) are not able to be traced, but thanks to the conditions of the Holy Grail - a phenomena akin to true iron forgery has manifested, allowing him to produce a weaker (but still amazingly powerful) copy of even Holy Swords. To utilize the Noble Phantasm Excalibur Image
, however, EMIYA would need additional support from Rin or a Servant so as not to disappear after its use.
Without being deployed, the Reality Marble allows for Projection
, and Reinforcement
in the real world. Weapons are produced within Unlimited Blade Works
and then brought into the world, greatly lowering the cost of reproducing them and allowing for numerous weapons to be prepared at once to be projected. Weapons can be summoned directly to the user's hands, or they can be summoned to levitate within the air and rapidly fired upon the enemy as fast-moving arrows. Once the Reality Marble is deployed, all of the weapons are available for use, and any weapon can immediately be called to the user's hands or levitated even while the user is in direct combat. The weapons reproduced once the Reality Marble is first activated will not consume prana, but those used or destroyed within it will add to the cost of maintaining the bounded field. The amount of energy used to reproduce weapons that did not exist after the bounded field was expanded and the amount of energy used to recreate weapons destroyed while it is activated is extremely costly.Archer's bow, used to fire Noble Phantasms - usually in the form of Broken Phantasms (Often in the form of arrows)
Archer is not someone you would invite to a party - not only because he wouldn't show up anyways, but because of how cold he acts. Not caring for anyone, always alone, if you get a chance to see him, he looks like a lone statue facing the greatest storms in history. It's rare to see Archer smile at all - but a confident, smug look can sometimes be seen on his lips.
Once, Archer followed the ideal to save everyone. After an unknown event shattered all of his hopes and dreams into peaces, he fell into a deep depression that holds him until this very day. He doesn't believe in ideals anyone, and those with strong ideals will usually have to face Archer as their worst enemy - he claims to be the enigma they can't defeat, the power that crushes their dreams and lives to show them reality. The warrior claims it is mercy that he shows by doing that - beating down an idealist is better than having him live until his ideals betray and back-stab him, for he knows that pain.
His ideal from way back was simple - to save everyone, no matter the cost. How exactly it was shattered is not known.
Cynism and Sarcasm
One big point anyone who ever talked with Archer knows is his gigantic sarcasm and cynicism. His voice seems to be permanently annoyed and mocking partially, often pointing out the fails of a person. One of his most memorial quotes is "Drown in your ideals and die", which he said to his old self, in response to some sermon about justice. Even while enraging his opponents, he is often able to calmly analyze them.
He also is not above hurting peoples feelings with his words, and frequently, mercilessly attacks others with words only - his tongue is silver and sharp, his mind quick.
Despite his usually 'evil' actions and methods, Archer actually still believes in his ideal - at least a bit. His methods have changed to where he would kill one person to save another, but it still actually pains him to see someone die.
Under that thick, anti-social and 'badass' shell, Archer can be a real softie. He's always questioning himself and his ways, and how to change fate. He is quite the warrior poet, and has a soft spot for weaker people trying to protect what they love. Also, Archer is a very, VERY good cook and housekeeper, although he doesn't brag about it.
This soft side also allows him to be a sweet person at times, although he can quickly get irritated and snap back into his cynical self.
It is a paradox, really - Archer hates ideals like his old one, but parts of it still resonate within him. As he gave himself away to make his ideal a reality in his own past, he can't resist the urge to help people.Character Color: CrimsonLikes:

I Am The Bone Of My Sword
A long time ago - at least for Archer himself - there was a boy who had lost everything in a fire. With his dying breath, his whole world and heart had gone empty, a horrible state of being for anyone. But then, he was saved - by the power of an ancient artifact and through his father.
That day, the boy changed. He had only been around ten years old on that fateful day, but he was an 'empty human' now. To fill the emptiness that made up his heart, this weak boy took on an ideal that his father had lost to years ago, and given up on. He promised to be a true hero, one that saves everyone. An inherently flawed and borrowed ideal, but the boy didn't mind that. Instead, he embraced this ideal with every bit of his being.
That boy's name was Emiya Shirou.
After some years had gone by, the boy finally learned how to use his natural tools given to him to be a hero. Magecraft, the art of the Magi, opened to him, even if only slightly - he was noted for being the possibly worst Magus of all time, even. But that didn't stop Emiya Shirou, a boy determined to reach any and all of his goals, no matter the pain it put him through.
Many things happened over the course of his quest for power. At one point, he learned how to use Projection - a normally useless Magecraft as nobody is able to use it effectively on a regular basis. However, the worst Magecraft and the worst Magus together were able to fight perfectly, and so he became a 'faker' that copied weapons to grow stronger.
At one point, he had a teacher. Without her, he never would've learned how to fight. And another teacher that made him better at managing his energies for Magecraft. Friends accumulated around him as well, and he even had a lover at some point. But at any given time, his ideal burning inside, to save everyone, never stopped growing. Nobody ever truly understood Emiya Shirou, but he didn't mind that, and didn't judge people based on it or anything else.
Then, a great calamity befell a group of people right in front of his eyes, and he was unable to do anything. They were all going to die - his struggle to be a hero would forever be tainted and wrong, he'd never truly reach his goal, and never be able to save anyone. In that decisive moment during the wars that were going to end his world, he prayed for the first time. To the one who held all the strings, the one voice of the eternal root.
"Akasha, I beg you... Make me one of yours. Give me... Unlimited Blade Works."
Steel Is My Body, And Fire Is My Blood
That was the final day of the boy named Emiya Shirou. What was left afterwards was not a normal human anymore, no - he was a Counter Guardian. One who had sold his soul to the root of all things, in exchange for power and the ability to change the world. His body of swords, the blood of iron and heart of glass, he became Archer.
Needless to say, after receiving the power of the root, saving the people was a mere trivial task to Archer. At the pinnacle of his power, he rose from being a mediocre Magus at best into being a true hero - brandishing his blades and will up high, he fought in the war threatening the lands many times. Over the course of that, he slowly began to lose those close to his heart...
Friends turned into enemies, were slain in battle or simply drifted away. His lover found the end on the fields of swords. And at the end, the war never stopped - soon, the whole world was filled with blades, sticking out of the grounds like headstones. The last forests of all worlds turned into sand and dust. But never even once did Archer retreat, or asked for help. Not even once did he ask for a reward for his help, and slowly, even his allies became scared of how incredibly selfless he had become.
On the final day of this war, Archer faced his strongest enemy, and managed to win. The war was over, but the armies on both sides had yet to be ready to forgive one another... But thankfully, a convenient way out presented itself. Archer was framed that day and evening - to be the one behind it all, the one that started this war to live his own twisted fantasies of heroism. Seeing as nobody was able to understand the swordsman in red, they attacked him, and in his final battle, on the hill of swords, he died.
Left by them all, betrayed by them all, including the world itself. The man without a purpose for himself died - but with a satisfied smile on his face, not regretting his fate one bit. His hands, for the last time, closed themselves around a red magic pendant he had once received from the person most important to his heart.
Truly, his body had been made from swords...
I Have Created Over A Thousand Blades
Now, in death, being a Counter Guardian fully became all that there was to Archer. His spirit lifted from the body, a mind unbound by the laws of time or reality, he was now one of the stalwart defenders of existence - of Akasha. At any means necessary, he'd defend her - sitting in the Throne of Heroes amongst many other legends, he became the knight in red. At first, when Archer arrived, he thought his dream had fully come true - to become an eternal hero. But soon, the realization of why he was the 'knight in red' became clearer and clearer to him...
It was a gradual process. Not because Archer was ignorant of the reality before him, but because of how being a Counter Guardian worked - one's true mind to be encased in the Throne of Heroes, the 'Archer' that was sent out was a copy of the real one, one that brought back experiences and feelings, but never memories. But finally, one version of 'Archer' broke that rule - he had grown powerful enough to burst the barrier with his memories.
And from that point onward, Archer could never forget. Even though he always wanted to. Because the role of a Counter Guardian... is not one to be desired. An eternity that doesn't actually take place in any specific time - millions of years passed, yet not even a second passed, too - a paradox. This was his fate... Forevermore.
Unknown To Death, Nor Known To Life
Even that would've been fine.
Even an eternity trapped in the Throne of Heroes, as a true hero. But being a hero was denied to Archer, at least in the way he envisioned it. Because a Counter Guardian is not simply summoned into a time period to stop a great disaster. No, instead, the root sends out their guardians to slay all those that stand to endanger the existence - in other words, almost always people. Vampires, Magi, Servants, Spirits, and other beings alike, all were brought before his blades. And that was when Archer realized why his white cloak had turned bright red.
The blood of the innocent ran through time, as Archer was forced to bring them down, again and again. Trying to do what was right, the same mistakes repeated themselves over the different timelines. Breaking out, the warrior fought to end wars without sacrificing the innocent, only to kill even more in the process - is flawed ideal crumbled.
Frantically, Archer searched for a way to turn his fate into a blessing instead of a curse.
Have Withstood Pain To Create Many Weapons
It all finally fell apart when Archer was summoned to a timeline he actually knew. His own one, after his death. Because even after his great sacrifice, even after the war had ended... the fighting never stopped. And finally, with their constant struggles, the people of all the worlds of that timeline managed to produce enough loathing and hate to release... it.
The shadow of all beings.
The end to existence.
Angra Mainyu, the being inside of the Holy Grail.
The world that had now summoned him was a disaster - millions dying every day, and all the Counter Guardians combined still had trouble holding off the corruption that could even consume gods. Thanks to their connection to the root, they were immune to the taint for the most part, but seeing this world again 'broke' Archer. And as his resolve waned away, so did this world that had once been his - in the end, that reality got consumed completely, erased from existence. An entire timeline, gone forever - and he was all that remained.
Emiya Shirou... no, Heroic Spirit EMIYA. The Faker.
And on that day, he swore revenge. Revenge onto his former self - before the timeline split, he would find himself, and do the impossible: free himself from Akasha.
Yet, Those Hands Will Never Hold Anything.
It took millennia.
Countless summonings, fighting without end.
Blood ran down in endless streams over Archer, his mantle now colored crimson red, stained with what he failed to protect thanks to the curse on him. But not even once did he lose sight of his true goal now. The memories of his life faded - only splinters remain today.
With each passing summoning, the chance for his next destination to be the final one grew larger. And with each passing day, Archer's power grew, too. Soon, he was strong enough to potentially resist the call of Akasha, to break free of the rules binding him for some time...
But he couldn't just rip himself out into a random timeline. So he waited, and diligently slaughtered the masses in the name of the greater good. Trample the few to save the many. A hated, wrong ideal. The ideal of his father.
And then, it happened.
He was called forth, but not as a Counter Guardian. His very summoning was a disaster, and his power was drained to a fraction of its usual self - he had his wits about him, more than he ever had before. So, Archer was summoned to that
time-frame - our past, former days. He was relegated to the Archer class under Rin Tohsaka, a powerful magus with a powerful spirit.
But it just so happened that this timeline was also the one he had been searching for.
The timeline-split was right in front of him. And for the first time, Archer successfully resisted. With the help of a strange Magecraft also interfering with the normal summoning, he was ripped out of Akasha's plan for the meantime - without the gate, his power was cut, but still remains as Emiya Shirou on the zenith of his power.
And he soon learned he had arrived, and discovered his past self. He was firmly convicted - backed by years of suffering and never seeing the smiles of those he saved, to settle the score with the past version of himself once and for all. To kill what he had once loved, to end his ideal right then and there, his life would surely, for one last time, become...
Unlimited Blade Works.
And So I Pray, Unlimited Blade Works
The rising sun, the dawn of a new day, and the rainbow after the endless thunderstorm.
A Sunny Day.
He defeated himself, and lost to himself in the same instant. Archer felt that by defeating him, Shirou Emiya validated all of his doubts. In the defeat of his own warped ideals by the original dream he once held, he found salvation.
And two days later, he returned the favor; he delivered salvation to the world, and sent the lingering spirit of King Gilgamesh back to the abyss.
Now, a year and a half later, he has been called forth once more.
He does not know why, and he does not know for how long.
But this time, he answers the call with a smile - hidden in his heart.
A Hero of Justice, and a Mind of Steel - existing as one being.
As Lancer and Saber moved like spiritual lightning against one another, they would likely be unaware that they were being watched. The all-seeing eyes of the Archer were upon them, and they were narrowed in a manner fitting to the steely look they betrayed. He had been sent by his Master to patrol the city - likely because she was content with that Saber of hers, and had grown complacent. It frustrated him that Rin had kept Saber, but in the end he supposed it wasn't his place to complain. She had
gone out of her way to call him back. He assumed she had her own reasons and likely doubts about the situation. Ordinarily, he would have merely contented himself with watching the two fight and picking off the winner. However, he did not want to be thrust into the middle of their battle or worse: turned on once they both became aware of him."Trace, on."
The Crimson Knight whispered to himself. As he did so, his favored bow for such situations as this materialized in his left hand. Simultaneously, another weapon appeared in his right hand's grasp as he closed his fist around air. The weapon called forth was a Holy Sword or some such thing called Caladblog. It didn't matter to him, in this case, because it would become something different than a mere sword. In his mind's eye, he warped the structure of the blade into a spiraling, drill-like arrow. The real thing followed suit, and he began to destabilize the weapon further. He was going to use this arrow as a Broken Phantasm, allowing it to have one use before it shattered.
Reinforcement, or Alteration. Whatever one called the shapeshifting process, the sword was now a missile of deadly capability.
With an almost bored look on his face, he hefted the bow up into position in front of him. The bow itself was not really that special, save for its capacity to "fire any missile" from its form. His right hand and left hand exchanged items, and he drew back the bowstring and the conjured projectile in turn. In that instant, he noticed both Servants were apart from one another. There was absolutely no point in releasing this attack if he could not hit both targets.Ever patient, the Archer bides his time and waits for the two to get close to one another. The Saber charges forward, allowing her sword to embrace the spinning lance. The "most well-rounded" of the two was also - in his mind - the most fool hardy. "Chivalry" was no excuse to throw your life away by charging straight into battle. But it wasn't any of his business, he supposed.
He loosed the arrow, and it flew with godspeed from the traced, black blow's sleek body. The missile spun rapidly through the air, prana crackling about its destabilizing form like electricity. He was fairly skilled at archery in life, and the same proved true even now: he watched as the arrow slammed right in between the two Servants just as they were about to clash. The result was a terrifyingly massive explosion that threw up dust and debris, leveling the battlefield beneath both warriors as a crater. He waited, and watched as the dust settled. His eagle eyes seemed to pierce through the smoke, his body ready to move in a flash. He could ready another arrow at a moment's notice thanks to his ample prana supply, and would do so if it seemed like either enemy was advancing from the smoke.
But for now, he watched and waited, patiently.
